Check Out Procedures (If you need to take your child from class for the day):
All students leaving school early must be signed out. 5th grade parents must check-in through the front window at Vidor High School (500 Orange St.). 6th grade parents must check-in through the front window at Vidor Jr. High. Please do not access our campuses from any other point. Students will be called on the intercom to meet their parent/adult at the check-out area of their respective campuses. Children will need to be signed back in by an adult when they return to school. Attendance is vital to the success of our students. Please arrange doctor appointments, trips, and lessons so your child can be at school all day, every day.

The 5th Grade Middle School students are housed on a temporary portable campus behind Vidor High School. To reduce some of the congestion on Orange St., please consider taking the route shown in this video. (View a map of the route here.)
The 6th Grade Middle School students are housed in temporary portable buildings on the Vidor Jr. High campus.Middle school parents will follow the parent pick-up queing lanes by the football field on N. Tram. Students will be escorted to vehicles line up in one of 3 lanes in the loading zone.
Day Care pick-up follows parent pick-up procedures as well.

Cell Phone Policy
The district permits students to possess personal cell phones for safety purposes; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day, including during all testing, unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes. A student must have approval to possess other personal telecommunications devices on campus such as laptops, tablets, or other portable computers.
Without such permission, teachers will collect the items and turn them in to the principal’s office. The principal will determine whether to return items to students at the end of the day or to contact parents to pick up the items.
The use of cell phones or any device capable of capturing images is strictly prohibited in locker rooms or restroom areas while at school or at a school-related or school-sponsored event.
If a student uses a telecommunications device without authorization during the school day, the device will be confiscated, and the student will be disciplined in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. The Student Code of Conduct states the following:
1st referral 3 days detention; student may pick up at the end of the day
2nd referral 1 day SSAC or 3 days ISS; parent may pick up at the end of day
3rd referral 3 days ISS; parent may pick up at the end of the day
4th referral 5 days ISS; parent may pick up at the end of the day
5th referral A discipline hearing will be scheduled, DAEP will be recommended.
Confiscated telecommunications devices that are not retrieved by the student or the student’s parent will be disposed of after the notice required by law. [See policy FNCE for more In limited circumstances and in accordance with law, a student’s personal telecommunications device may be searched by authorized personnel.
Any disciplinary action will be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen telecommunications devices.
IDs at VMS
To ensure a safe and secure campus, VMS requires 6th grade students to wear IDs at all times. All students will be issued an ID at the beginning of the school year. Replacement IDs cost $4.00.
